Water sports you should try

Water sports have become the pastime of thousands of people during the summer. Simply renting a boat or renting a jet ski and going out to sea and we can practice the various types of water sports that exist. These activities have become the most common in summer on all the beaches of the Mediterranean.

If we are one of those who love sports, adrenaline and have strong and intense emotions we should not miss the opportunity.

Types of water sports

But there are so many sport modalities that finding the most suitable one can take some time. So, you know, jump into the water to sail with your jet ski and start discovering this incredible world of water sports.

Water Skiing

Water skiing is one of the best known and most popular activities in summer. This combination of skiing and surfing is the perfect mix for practicing if, for example, we rent a boat.

Water skiing is very simple to do, it consists of sliding over the water on skis while we are dragged by a motorboat or jet ski. This sport can be done by anyone, all it requires is good reflexes, a good balance and of course not to be afraid of the water.

One of the attractions of water skiing is the speed at which we can get to go, the faster the boat or jet ski we have rented the faster we can go and more adrenaline will release. The most expert and daring in this sport may try to make figures and jumps or even try to practice water skiing completely barefoot by the water.

Wakeboard

Wakeboarding is another of the most popular water sports when renting a boat. It is very similar to water skiing, we could say that it is a mixture between water skiing and snowboarding, similar to water surfing.

The practice would be identical to water skiing but with the difference that the wakeboard uses a board, very similar to surfing or snowboarding, which has bindings for the feet. Thanks to the waves produced by the wake of our boat, we will be able to perform, with a little practice, some impressive pirouettes and jumps.

The more speed we reach with our rental boat, the easier it will be to practice wakeboard. In addition, depending on the height of the tower of the motorboat where we tie the rope, more time will be in the air of each pirouette.

The wakeboard is one of the preferred options for lovers of extreme water sports, speed and water when sailing a boat.

Subwing

Subwing is one of the lesser-known nautical sports that has been sweeping the Mediterranean coasts in recent times.

This mixture of water skiing and free diving is very simple to practice: it consists of clinging to a platform that simulates two wings and allowing oneself to be dragged by a boat using a rope of approximately 15 metres. Subwing allows us to explore the ocean like we never imagined when we rented a boat.

We can choose the rhythm, the movements, the dives we want to do, we have total freedom to contemplate the immensity of the sea. The most recommended speed for the practice of the subwig are between 2 and 4 knots, so that it is not manageable.

It should be borne in mind that the dives are made to free lung and that we will need a diving mask and fins so that we can enjoy more if possible this experience.

Wakesurfing

Wakesurfing is one of the most extreme water sports with board, surf and wakeboard mix.

In the wakesurfing the person is mounted on a board, similar to the one of surfing, and is dragged by a motorboat until these reach a speed of up to 12 and 15 km per hour. The moment we go at the same speed at which the boat sails, we must leave the rope and try to surf the wake left by the boat.

It is very important that when we rent a boat to practice wakesurfing we notice that the propeller of the boat is just behind the rudder to avoid accidents if we fall. One of the main advantages is that the wave created by the boat when sailing is almost perfect and never ends, so we will be surfing until our body holds. This sport is very simple and fun. All we need is a desire to learn and practice.

Flyboard

The water sport flyboard is one of the most impressive nautical sports of recent years: the combination of flying over the water, jumping like a dolphin and doing pirouettes is one of the most popular attractions among lovers of the sea.

The operation is very simple:

  • Jet skis usually collect the water from the bow and expel it by means of a pressure turbine.
  • Flyboard connects the output of the jet ski to a 20 metre hose that causes all the water pressure to end up under the board and push us over the water.

This sport is very simple, does not require any kind of strength or physical preparation, all you need is a little balance and not be afraid of water. This is one of the most impressive ways to make the most of our day on the boat.

Nautical banana

The nautical banana is one of the most fun and incredible experiences that can be practiced with our rental boat. It is an activity aimed at all ages, from the youngest to the oldest on the boat.

It consists of towing the banana by means of a rope attached to the boat we have rented. The waves, the jumps, the turns and the speed at which the boat sails will try to destabilize us and make us fall into the water.

The funniest thing is not to try not to fall but to see how others try not to lose their balance. Bananas can go from 2 to 12 people, but without a doubt, the more people who participate, the more fun the experience will be.

The nautical banana has become one of the most common activities when we rent a boat because it does not need preparation or previous experience.

Water sports are one of the best experiences to enjoy the sea, speed, adrenaline and fun. Practicing these sports is very simple, with renting a boat and the right equipment for the type of sport we are going to practice, and we will have everything you need to enjoy with friends or family of these wonderful sports.

And this type of nautical sports are only some of the main modalities that you can encourage you to practice. Without a doubt, it will be a perfect way to spend a different day at sea when renting a boat.
